I’m so excited to announce a new program we’re launching: Lunch With MemberClicks. Starting April 7 in Atlanta, team members are going to travel around the country to meet with association professionals, talk about technology and treat them to lunch.

Here’s the first few months of the lineup:

April 7: Atlanta
April 21: Washington, D.C.
May 5: New York City
May 6: Boston
May 19: Chicago
June 1: Orlando
June 2: Raleigh

Why should you come? Networking opportunities, discussions about membership management, event maximization, e-marketing, social media and payment processing. We’re really excited to meet with association professionals (especially those of you at small-staffs!) in each and every city.

Everyone who comes will receive a complimentary lunch and have the opportunity to meet with other association professionals in the area.

If you live in one of those cities and have a restaurant suggestion, feel free to e-mail me at shannon@memberclicks.com. (That’s my own little attempt to get some crowdsourcing action in here!)

For more information, including registration info, click here.

We can’t wait to meet you!

Happy Monday! I hope everyone attending ASAE’s Great Ideas Conference made it to Colorado safely, and if you’re not able to be there in person, be sure to follow the Twitter hashtag #ideas10 for some great takeaways.

So, March is an exciting month for those of us here at MemberClicks. Generally, we send out a newsletter to our customers each month full of info about our training webinars, product updates, book reviews, useful PDFs (Beyond the Big Three, anyone?) and more.

This month, though, we’re launching a new, non-customer-focused e-newsletter, The Small-Staff Journal. We collect so much information about small-staff operations and want to give back to the community. You don’t have to be a MemberClicks customer to receive it, and we hope you’ll choose to connect with us in this way.

So, if you’re interested in receiving the first edition — which comes out tomorrow! — e-mail me at socialmedia@memberclicks.com. And trust me — if you like giveaways, you want in on this one to be one of the first people in the know. (It’s a biggie!)

I hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

It’s been a little while since I’ve highlighted some of our awesome customers. We work with some really amazing organizations and associations, and from time to time, I like to spotlight a few on this blog to show them off and promote their causes.

The Iowa Association for College Admission Counseling is dedicated to maintaining relationships between secondary and high schools and universities and colleges. They promote the needs of college admissions counselors and set professional standard for admission to a higher education institution. They host an annual conference, as well as a college fair to support students who are seeking higher education. IACAC has more than 600 members and is affiliated with the National Association for College Admission Counseling.

The Society for Human Resource Management of Tompkins County is a growing association with 125 human resource professionals from the Ithaca, N.Y. area. Affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management, the chapter offers professionals in Ithaca and the surrounding areas career growth and development programs and services.

The Wound Healing Society is a nonprofit dedicated to advancing the science and practice of wound healing. Made up of clinical and basic scientists, the society provides a forum for interaction among scientists, physicians, licensed practitioners, industrial representatives and government agencies, according to its About page. With 500 members in the U.S. and other countries, WHS publishes a leading journal in wound healing.

The District of Columbia Nurses Association has more than 2,000 members and maintains a code of ethics for Washington, D.C.-based nurses. A constituent members of the American Nurses Association, DCNA also keeps a “Rights in the Workplace” for all its members and makes sure that all pay and insurance is fair. Members can gain experience in the nursing field as lobbyists, media spokespersons, union advocates and community activists.

If you work with MemberClicks and would like your organization featured on Splash, please e-mail me at shannon@memberclicks.com.

ASAE’s Technology Conference: How to handle a crisis admirably

Crises are not things any organization looks forward to dealing with, but it’s crucial to always have a contingency plan.

ASAE and The Center’s move on Tuesday to cancel the Technology Conference and Expo was the right call. Even though the event is the organization’s third biggest event of the year, the winter weather presented too many risks to attendees and exhibitors alike.

On top of making the safe decision, ASAE also announced everyone would be issued a full refund.

This is an extremely refreshing move on ASAE’s part. Obviously, no one can control the weather, but ASAE kept it classy with full refunds and apologies. To be honest, on Tuesday morning, I didn’t think the event would be cancelled. But as I continued to keep up with the #Tech10 Twitter stream throughout the day, I realized that the risks far outweighed the benefits.

Long lines at the Atlanta airport...

Our own MemberClicks crew made it as far as Richmond, Va. They were supposed to fly to D.C. this morning, but when flights started getting axed, we sent them up early, anticipating that the show would go on. When it was cancelled, we decided it wasn’t safe for them to drive from Richmond to D.C. on snowy, icy roads, and they returned to Atlanta.

...and long lines at the Richmond airport.

We’re going to be virtually attending UnTech conference, which will last from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. If you’re in the D.C. area and can get to the Renaissance Hotel, try to be there in person! If not, they will be streaming some session live. If you’re on Twitter, be sure to follow the #UnTech10 stream, as well.

We were truly happy to see ASAE make this right, albeit difficult, decision and hope small-staff association professionals in the D.C. area take part in the UnTech conference. Or, just sign up and attend virtually! Many speakers will be presenting their planned sessions, and this is a great opportunity to take part in the association community, ASAE-official or not.

Meet our ASAE Technology Expo Team: Duncan McCreery

Since the 2010 Technology Conference and Expo is next week, I wanted to introduce everyone to the MemberClicks team members who will be in Washington DC. Last week, I introduced you to Solution Adviser Hannae Berhanu. This week? Customer Maximization Lead Duncan McCreery.

Duncan has worked at MemberClicks for two years now, and just recently moved into the Maximization Team Leader position. Prior to that, he was a solution adviser, and helped implement more than 50 small-staff associations during his time in that role.

Last fall, we developed the Customer Maximization Program to ensure that we always stay engaged with our customers and be certain our solution meets their ever-changing technology needs. As Customer Maximization Lead, Duncan trains our organizations’ administrators each month to help them put their data to better use and get the most from their MemberClicks solution. He focuses on enhancing our customers’ knowledge and use of the MemberClicks solution through trainings, consultations and optimizations.

Because we serve so many different organizations and their purposes and missions run the gamut, Duncan enjoys the change that comes with his role each day. Prior to joining MemberClicks, Duncan was an English teacher in Russia, which is a huge asset as he assists and trains customers. And his interest in the ever-expanding world of technology doesn’t hurt, either!

When he’s not helping our customers offer amazing membership experiences, the Cleveland native (and huge Browns fan) likes to read fiction and newspapers, and also brush up on his Russian. He’s looking forward to meeting with as many small-staff association staffers as possible, and is always ready to chat about technology solutions, whether MemberClicks is the right fit for you or not.

For more information, feel free to e-mail Duncan at duncan@memberclicks.com, or reach out to him on his LinkedIn page. And please stop by booth 326 next week at the Technology Conference and Expo!
