OK, obviously it’s not the 4th of July but it’s the Friday before a long weekend and it certainly feels like a holiday. Who’s ready to celebrate America this weekend?
But! Before you fire up the grill and start eating popsicles, be sure to check out these five posts from around the association blogosphere!
1. Don’t miss Six Crucial Factors of Mobile App Development from MarketingProfs. Mobile is big right now (hello, we’re all attached to our phones for the most part!), and it’s crucial to understand the different platforms and app stores before you get started.
2. KiKi L’Italien put together a great list of “bad idea jeans” for associations. What are some bad ideas? Creating a social media plan without considering customer service. Creating new programs without proper preparation. Not providing enough resources to help a new program succeed.
3. A great reminder from Eric Lanke: leaders have a different job. Leaders are not necessarily managers; those jobs are completely different. As an association leader, your job is to put together a team that can get the job done and to inspire that team on a daily basis.
4. Winning is important – but is it the only important thing in life? (Don’t answer that if you’re a professional athlete.) Scott Briscoe reminds us that losing doesn’t make you any less of a person and it shouldn’t have anything to do with your self-worth.
5. I have really been enjoying Jeffrey Cufaude’s weekly Leadership Limericks, and this week he reminds us that we are all creative. Creativity has no limits and is not confined by merely creating new ideas out of nothing.
From everyone at MemberClicks, have a great weekend!

I’ve spent the last two days downloading apps, easily surfing the Web and getting used to the touchscreen (which, I must say, is extremely intuitive). The whole experience has reinforced my belief that associations have to consider how their websites look on the mobile web, and if an app may be right for them.
