The road to ASAE: Now with an iPhone app

On the heels of my post last week about Why Mobile Matters (to associations), I just found out about ASAE’s awesome iPhone app dedicated to the upcoming Annual Meeting and Expo! With the meeting less than one month away, exhibitors and attendees alike are gearing up for what is sure to be an awesome event, and the iPhone app can help everyone plan their schedules, find exhibitors and have access to important maps at their fingertips.

I played around with the app a bit, and it’s pretty intuitive. A list of the schedule can be found under “More,” and a handy map of the exhibit hall is under “Maps” (with the booths of your “favorited” exhibitors highlighted in yellow).

I added several events to my schedule (including the expo, of course, as well as the 5K Fun Run, which I plan to participate in). The same descriptions that appear on the official website are also on the app. What I love about this is how handy the app is — I was starting to wonder how I was going to keep my schedule in check with the many, many different sessions offered at each time slot, but this app should really help me streamline things.

For iPhone users attending the conference, I think this app is an easy way to keep track of your schedule and focused on which sessions truly interest you. I’m excited for the sessions, exhibit hall, opening and closing receptions and, yes, even the 5K. See you there!

Edit: I just found out (via Twitter) that ASAE also has apps for BlackBerrys and Droids. Point your mobile browser to http://m.core-apps.com/asaeam10 to download the app for your particular device! Fun times for all smart phone users!

This is great – thank you for posting this as I wasn’t aware of the mobile app. I will definitely download this.

I’d REALLY love to see an even more robust iPad app in the future! I think that would take things to whole new level.

Thanks again and have a great day!

I’m glad I could help bring the iPhone app to your attention, Christina! I’m sure ASAE will have an equally robust iPad app in the very near future, especially as the iPad and other tablets gain traction in the industry.

See you in LA!

This is wonderful – especially because it appears that ASAE went beyond the iPhone. Several years ago there was a similar program for another technology for an ASAE meeting, and it was extremely helpful since I did not have to carry around a bunch of extra paper!

[...] creating apps specific to the conference. The SXSW conference in Austin does this every year, and ASAE has an app for their upcoming conference. There are sure to be plenty others. Check the web site of the [...]

Hey Ladies, very cool to see you excited about the mobile event app revolution. Check out my latest blog post which is a voice note of me talking about the apps.
